SPARK was started in 1995 by a group of Mennonite/related hams concerned with the quality of conversation on the bands. Today, SPARK remains committed to our original goal of providing a positive environment for communication: QSOs free of foul language, encouraging to each other, and serving the public.

Membership in SPARK is not currently active. SPARK is in caretaker status, autonomously operated by a few individuals.

As you may already know, we operate repeaters on 147.285+ (pl 131.8) and 449.075- (pl 131.8). The VHF repeater was put on the air early in 1996, and an autopatch was activated in late 1998. The UHF machine went up late in 1998, as a joint project of members, but independent of the SPARK budget.

Currently, the space for the repeaters is compliments of South Mountain Communications.
