Pilgrim Mennonite Missions operates at the direction of the Pilgrim Mennonite Church. It is based in Myerstown, Pennsylvania.

The Pilgrim Mennonite Mission in Honduras houses a clinic and children's home. The mission is new, and is yet under development. While I am not formally affiliated with the Pilgrim Mennonite Church, I was involved in the planning, acquisition, and installation of two-way radio equipment for the mission. Homer Weaver and Anthony Kreider were also very involved in implementing the communications system. Anthony did the initial survey of what could be done, and really did the most difficult parts of the job.

In August 2000, we collected 2 antennas and mounting brackets, 125 feet of hardline and connectors, jumper wires, duplexers, a controller, the modified repeater, a link radio, deep cycle batteries, and a solar panel. These items were shipped, along with many other supplies, and arrived at the mission the day before I was to return home. We successfully assembled the system, though a few glitches had to be resolved by Homer and Anthony after I returned home.

The system provides coverage of a significant portion of Honduras, both with 2 way communications, and a link to an autopatch (with easy, economical access to US telephones).
Thanks to:

  • God for the smooth operation of the system.
  • Link Communications for a discount on the controller.
  • Brian Auker for help in acquiring parts.
  • Lee Martin for helping to wire things together, and modifying the radios.
  • Homer and Anthony for their patience in working with me
